Breastfeeding-Friendly San Diego
Many new mothers return to work or school within the first three months of their child’s life and choose to stop breastfeeding for a variety of reasons. To increase the number of breastfeeding-friendly childcare sites in San Diego County and break down barriers to continued breastfeeding, the University of California San Diego (UCSD) Center for Community Health — together with the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), First 5 San Diego and Live Well San Diego — partnered with Emspace + Lovgren to brand and develop materials for its local breastfeeding support program.
Since the program launched, Breastfeeding-Friendly San Diego has recognized 35 childcare sites — both family childcare homes and childcare centers — for their commitment to implementing best practices, policies and environmental changes in breastfeeding support.
